Every woman wants glowing, clear skin. Although unfortunately, a great percentage of us have a hard time getting there.
Everyone has had a spot, pimple or some form of acne during their teens, but carrying it into adulthood, now thats just a serious crime against nature.
Sometimes you just cant help but wonder,
I cant have the worst diet, surely cant be that stressed out, and are other people taking these pills to keep their skin clear?
Why is it only me, when I seem to eat and do what all my other friends and family members are doing?
Its hard, but the reason behind it is simply this-
We all react differently, to everything... unless we train ourselves otherwise... for the better.
Being an acne sufferer myself during my early twenties, Im sort of in-the-know about how you might feel, and I understand the frustration too. Ive been through the medicines, creams, cosmetics, you name it, Ive done it.
At the end of it all, it all comes back to basics - affordable basics.
1. Awareness - take note of what you eat, what youre doing and where those fingers go!
2. Reduce your sugar intake - or cut it out completely.
3. Diet - its important that you eat preferably 4 servings of vegetable and 1 serving of fruit daily. Take vegetables such as cabbage, lettuce, celery, and tomatoes, chop and mix it up, and store it in a container in the fridge. That way every time you have a meal, scoop out a large portion and get your vegetable serving. Eat fruits that are easier to bite into like an apple or a banana, so it wont feel like you have to put in all that extra effort.
4. Relieve stress - buy a stress ball, meditate at least once a day for at least 10 minutes. Its good to meditate in the morning and start off on a good note, but its also important to keep calm and collected during your work day (where stress levels are probably highest) and so I highly suggest you take the time out during your lunch break to go somewhere quiet (even the restroom if you have to), to just close your eyes and clear your mind. If you have more space and privacy (preferably not a toilet) stand with feet hip width apart, inhale and raise your arms above your head at full stretch. Slowly roll down and exhale until your hands touch the ground. Roll back to starting position. Repeat this 10 times (and keep your mind clear and eyes closed). This should take no more than 10 minutes of your lunch hour.
5. Exercise - another great way to relieve stress, but the important thing about exercise is that it helps to pump oxygen around your body - skin included. And if theres enough oxygen circulating around the body regularly (not whenever I feel like it...) then your body has the strength to fight off any abnormalities, including the foreign bacteria that are one of the root causes to acne.
6. Congested liver - I cant stress enough how well Awareness comes into this. Take note of how often you release stool. Is it irregular? Is it hard or loose stool? These are all signs of how your body is reacting to the different foods you eat, so make a mental note of it, and find out what works best for you. If your liver is toxic, almost every part of your body will be affected by it one way or the other. Consult your physician first if you ever decide to do a liver flush to get it back into tip top condition. Believe me when I say you will not regret it. A clean liver means more energy levels because the oxygen traveling around your body will be cleaner - no more back pains, shoulder pains, indigestion, you get the idea. Your vegetable and fruit serving will add to your intake of fiber and also help regulate.
7. Sleep - cell regeneration takes place while youre in a deep slumber, so its vital you get between 6 to 10 hours of sleep. If youre not sure how much you really need, tuck in early on the weekend when you have nothing planned the next day. When you wake up the next morning, feeling refreshed (undisturbed sleep), then count the hours youve slept. Try this several times to be certain.
8. No-nos - Vegetable oil (all types, no matter what omega or other added nutrients it claims to have on its label, reduce refined carbohydrates (white rice/bread/pasta etc), and caffeine (coffee, sodas, etc).
9. Try this - a mixture of extra virgin olive oil and Castor oil for a facial cleanser. The Castor oil helps to absorb the dirt and grease, while the olive oil acts as a moisturizer. Some people leave this on overnight (on a clean face), although I prefer to steam my face with a bowl of hot water and wipe off the oil with a clean warm face cloth. See what works best for you.
10. Belief - Believe in yourself, and believe that you too were meant to have clear, beautiful skin. Thank your body for sending you signals that youre not doing something right. A lot of people have indigestion, congested liver, lung problems, and clogged arteries, with no signs to show for it. Believe that if you put these effortless and priceless steps into practice, you will see the results. If you fill your mind with worries and anxieties, it leads to stress (among other emotional problems), causing hormonal imbalance and further breakouts.
Remember, these are just the basics. Everybody will produce different results at different times - and thats why my number 1 rule is Awareness - realize what works for you.
